Your day out on Republic Day
Travel is always a hot topic of conversation on a National Holiday. So, this Republic Day, if you need good recommendations on places to visit and eat, we have got the suggestions which may give you the inspiration for your holiday outing. Read through to find the place for your mood.
Chattarpur Temple
It is a vast temple complex in South Delhi featuring a number of shrines dedicated to Hindu gods and goddesses. The main shrine has a beautiful metal image of Goddess Katyayani (Durga) which is unveiled for public darshan only on a full moon day. Nonetheless, visitors can have darshan of other shrines, and also admire the wonderful bedroom and dining room made especially for the goddesses. Because of its vast area, it takes an entire day to explore the temple complex. The temple also runs a free community kitchen, which sorts out the hunger pangs of visitors.
Lodhi Gardens
A place like Lodhi Gardens is for all. Book lovers, fitness freaks, walkers, runners and brooders visit this spacious park every day. It is a cool hangout place to spend a few hours on a national holiday.
Bangla Sahib Gurudwara
Craving for a hearty and homely feast? One of the best places to get a healthy meal is at the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib where visitors are served with a hot meal as prasad at the free community kitchen. It is a peaceful, spacious and well-managed Sikh shrine–the largest in Delhi–where you can spend as much time as you want to.
India Gate
If you would like to bask in the winter sun in the open lawns in the heart of Delhi on Republic Day, the India Gate is the place to be. There are leisure visitors, hawkers, and food vendors around on site. So, if you do not mind the crowd, spend some time at the India Gate.
