The exquisitely carved Jain temples of Ranakpur are hidden in a forest on the banks of the river Maghai, 90 kilometres away from Udaipur. There are three major Jain temples made entirely of marble, dedicated to three tirthankars, Rishabhdev, Parshvanath and Neminath. The three-storey Chaturmukha Adinath Temple is the primary one, built in the 15th century as an ode to Rishabhdeva. Its interior is adorned with 1,444 imposing and intricately carved pillars, which are testaments to exemplary craftsmanship. A visit to Ranakpur can also be clubbed with the Kumbalgarh Fort and wildlife sanctuary.
