Ship and Anchor turned 25 years old in the year 2015 and to survive that long in this city is quite a feat, so they must be doing something right. When they first opened it was one of the only places that really catered to the artsy crowds and since then has opened its door to every kind of person imaginable. It truly is the bar that one can walk into and see a man in a business suit seated next to a tattooed biker indulged in a deep conversation. They are known for their live music, whether it’s a heavy metal band on Wednesday nights to family friendly jam session they offer every Saturday afternoon. Live soccer is constantly on TV, punk rock bingo is much moved and don’t be surprised if it turns into a dance club on the other nights of the week. Located on 17th Ave, it’s the perfect location to hangout with friends. The large patio is used for extra seating in summers. Inside it looks a little like a dive bar, lots of seating with a teeny tiny dance floor, and according to owners, they wouldn’t have it any other way.
