High tea at The Ritz in typical English style is nothing short of an institution. It has grown so popular over the years, that there are now five different slots to accommodate the bookings on a daily basis. Starting from 11.30am, 1.30pm, 3.30pm, 5.30pm and the last at 7.30pm, bookings need to be made at least four weeks in advance. Tea is served in the elegant Palm Court, accompanied by a pianist or a harpist. On offer, is an extensive selection of 17 different loose-leaf teas, a traditional English Tea Menu including freshly cut sandwiches with smoked salmon, cucumber, egg mayonnaise, roast ham and Cheddar cheese fillings, freshly baked apple and raisin scones with strawberry preserve and clotted Cornish cream, and to round up; a delectable selection of afternoon tea cakes and pastries. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie; and women must be formally dressed.
