If you are a beer lover and you often wonder if a museum dedicated to the golden beverage exists at all—yes it does! The SAB World of Beer is a beer museum and also a conference venue that is managed by the breweries of South Africa. Inaugurated some 20 years ago, it wonderfully documents the history and culture of this alcoholic elixir. Surprisingly one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country, the beer up on display ranges from the traditional forms of ale available in Europe’s Czech Republic to South Africa’s very own woody produce.

The journey of the SAB World is interactive and thoroughly intriguing. Visitors are amazed to witness the complex beer brewing process considering how the ingredients are milled, boiled and lautered so as to produce the perfectly chilled bottle that rests in your fridge. Towards the end of the tour, you can sample the many different variants SAB has to offer. Sign up for a beer tasting session so as to understand the many nuances of the beverage. Don’t miss out on the Hathor’s Hall exhibit if you want to know how the Egyptians and Mesopotamians savoured their beer.
