Australia’s first international hotel, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth was built in 1966 and elegantly blends Accor’s French characteristics with the hotel's imposing architectural style. The 15-storied edifice, curved around an elevated garden courtyard, claims to be Southern Hemisphere’s largest single brick structure. The hotel currently has 436 luxury rooms, including 45 opulent suites. Wi-Fi is free for Le Club Accor Hotels members. Like an oasis in a busy metropolis, the décor, ambience and menu at the newly opened Garden Court Restaurant intrigue guests. The mix of European interior styles with Greek motif in the outside courtyard impresses diners. The hotel features a range of meeting rooms with cutting-edge conferencing technologies to accommodate over a thousand delegates. Many royal dignitaries and celebrities, such as Queen Elizabeth II, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, Princess Diana and numerous film and sports stars as well as the first men on the moon, have marked their footprints here.
