Yuen Long Plain

SIGHTSEEING, HONG KONG Updated : Dec 27, 2016, 03.48 PM IST

Yuen Long Plain
While, touring Hong Kong on a bicycle may not be a preferable option, exploring Yuen Long Plain certainly is. Located in the northwest corner of Hong Kong’s New Territories region 20km north of downtown, Yuen Long Plain is dotted with places worth visiting on a bicycle/bike. To reach here, board the West Rail train line to Kam Sheung Road Station, and then pedal your way to all the places nestled in the walled city of Kam Tin known for its narrow dwellings. Go 7km to the east, and you’ll find the market city of Yuen Long abounded by several eateries for a nice refill before embarking northwest to the Hong Kong Wetland Park. The guarded 150-acre park is a great hub for bird watchers to spot the grey heron, great egret and the rare black-faced spoonbill.
