South India is dotted with beautiful places that make for some amazing road trips. Since these are pandemic times, self-drive road trips are also one of the safest ways to travel. If you love road trips, here are some of the exciting options that you can take to explore the best of South India.
Bengaluru to Ooty
Covering a distance of around 268 km from Bengaluru to Ooty will be an exciting one; it is dotted with scenic landscapes and mountains. Perfect for nature and photograph lovers, this is where you can't miss capturing some of the best clicks as you pass through the yet the soul-refreshing forests of Bandipur.
Chennai to Munnar
As you zip through the sea beaches and hilly roads, you will thank your stars for heading to this road trip. The very experience of passing through acres of tea plantations will make this a road trip to remember. You can even opt to travel to Munnar via Pondicherry, where you can make a halt or stay overnight there to experience its beautiful beaches and culture.
Pamban Bridge
One of the best road trips from any part of South India will be a trip to Pamban Bridge. As you drive through the 13.5 km stretch in Rameshwaram, with the ocean all around you, the experience will be like no other.
Hyderabad to Araku Valley
It’s one of the best road trips that you can take in South India, in which you get to witness beaches, plains, and even hill stations. A drive from Hyderabad to Araku will take you from Hyderabad to Vishakhapatnam and then from Vizag to Araku, and will cover a total distance of 732 kms, which will take around 12-15 hours to complete the entire trip.
Kochi to Kanyakumari
If you are a sea lover and desperately need vitamin sea, set off on this road trip from Koch to Kanyakumari. You would love the stretch spread across 300 km, as you will get multiple opportunities to explore fishing villages, gorgeous beaches, fishing villages, and backwaters enroute. Also, both the destinations have some prominent political and historical destinations that you can explore.
Bengaluru to Ooty
Most people cover this distance of 566 km between Bengaluru to Goa not only for sheer excitement, but also for the mesmerising beauty of the route. While on the road, don’t miss to try out some South Indian food and local Punjabi Dhaba cuisine.
Bandipur to Periyar
This road trip is a must for all wildlife lovers, both being the prime locations for spotting tigers. This is also one of the reasons that makes it a major tourist attraction. And, as you pass through the lush green forests en route and acres of coffee plantations, you also get the chance to explore the rich wildlife of this region.
Vizag to Aarku
It takes around four hours to go from Vizag to Araku, where you can zoom across rolling hills of Eastern Ghats and winding valleys on the route. This route is spanned across a distance of 114 km from NAD Kotha, which then passes through Pendurthi junction, Kothavalasa, S- Kota, and other small villages.
