When in Jaipur, do not miss relishing these 5 dishes
The Pink City of Rajasthan, Jaipur will spoil you for choice when it comes to food! The capital city of the desert state attracts foodies from across the globe as there are some incredible dining options offering authentic Rajasthani fare.
Here are top five dishes or street foods that you must try for a truly lip-smacking experience in Jaipur.
Pyaaz kachori
Pyaaz kachori is a must-try street food of Jaipur. This super tasty and equally spicy snack is available at almost every big or small restaurant in the city; it is so (rightly) famous! The deep-fried, onion-filled snack has gained a lot of popularity in the north Indian region. It is served hot with sweet and sour imli ki chutney.
Panchmel ki Sabzi
Another popular delicacy of Jaipur is the panchmel ki sabzi. As the name suggests, it is a combination of five ingredients, and uses five seasonal veggies. The dish is healthy and tastes absolutely divine. The vegetables are mixed with aromatic spices and amchur powder, which leaves a tangy taste in the mouth.
Laal Maas
Your trip to Jaipur wouldn’t be complete without tasting laal maas or red meat. Considered as one the finest meat preparations in the country, this super red, hot and spicy dish is exclusive to Rajasthan. The dish gets its name because of generous use of red chillies in its preparations.
Gatte ki Sabzi
This is one of the most popular dishes in Jaipur, easily available at every restaurant and dhaba. Gatte ki sabzi is the local’s favourite curry, made with buttermilk and gram flour balls, called gatte. These balls are later dipped in the spicy curry and served hot.
Dal Bati Churma
This is one of those dishes that best defines the Rajasthani cuisine. If you are in Jaipur, you cannot leave the city without trying the signature dish of the kings. This dish is a combination of three different ingredients, dal (prepared using a combination of five grams), baked batis (prepared using wheat flour, semolina, gram flour, salt and milk) and churma (a sweet version of bati). It’s a burst of flavours in the mouth!
