Thailand’s most bizarre dishes
There’s never a dull moment with Thai food! One of the most celebrated cuisines in the world, Thai cuisine is a delicious mix of spices that has been luring food lovers into its aromatic world since ages. From creamy curries and fragrant sauces to mouthwatering sweet dishes, Thai menus are awesome.
But, there are some delicacies which are as bizarre as it can get. For those who enjoy experimenting with their food, these weird dishes in Thailand are a must-try
Luu Moo
First things first, the very base of this dish is pig's blood. This red-coloured soup-like Thai dish is made using pig’s blood, which is mixed with spices. The thick soup is then served with noodles. It’s a weird and risky dish as chances of getting a bacterial infection after consuming this soup is pretty high. Try at your own risk!
Yum khai maeng da
It’s a salad that is prepared with horseshoe crab, an ancient creature related to scorpions and spiders. One can only eat crab’s eggs, called roe. Some restaurants prepare the salad with eggs, but this particular dish is generally prepared with the crab. Try at your own risk!
Shark fin soup
This soup is pretty common in Thai-Chinese restaurants and is considered a luxury. The shark fins have no taste of themselves but the broth is quite flavourful. A number of environmentalists have strongly discouraged the consumption and production of this soup, as this particular dish has led to overfishing of sharks.
Larb leuat neua
Another complicated dish in Thailand is larb leuat neua, which is prepared using raw beef and uncooked blood. The minced beef is combined with mint and onions, and served with rice. People usually enjoy this dish with a glass of chilled beer. But, given the uncooked meat and blood, chances of getting food poisoning are high.
