The list won’t be complete without the mention of Cafe Mondegar. Set in the heart of Colaba, this cafe is fondly known as Mondy’s. Not many must be aware that the wall paintings inside the cafe are the work of art by the famous Indian cartoonist and painter Mario Miranda. The murals on all inner walls and ceiling here are absolutely awesome. The place serves some of the best chicken burgers and pastas in the city.
Yazdani Bakery
This pretty little bakery was opened in 1953 by Zend Meherwan Zend, an Irani baker. The place is famous for serving the best bun maska in the whole of Mumbai. Set in narrow lanes of Fort, the bakery can be quite easily missed when there’s a crowd. So keep your eyes open.
Gaylord Restaurant
One of the most iconic places to eat in Mumbai, Gaylord Restaurant established in 1956 is quite a rage among foodies. Set close to the pretty Marine Drive, the place is known for serving hot and freshly made breads and cakes. Their chicken puffs and croissants are absolutely delicious.
Leopold Cafe
Established almost a century and half back in the year 1871, Leopold Cafe in Colaba is one of Mumbai's oldest and iconic eateries. It was one of the locations of the 2008 Mumbai attacks. The cafe is noted for its chic decor and mouth-watering food. Do try their chicken tikka and berry pulao, absolutely divine.
Kyani & Co
This is more than a 100 years old eatery, serving some mind-blowing bun maska. The place remains crowded with breakfast eaters every morning without fail! Kyani’s in Marine Lines also serves a range of egg delicacies, chicken samosas and cakes. Do try their Irani chai as well.
Britannia & Co. Restaurant
You visit Britannia & Co. when you are craving for some authentic Parsi cuisine in Mumbai. The legendary restaurant was opened in 1923 by a Zoroastrian immigrant from Iran, Mr. Boman Kohinoor. When here, do try their sali boti and mutton berry pulao. Exotic and full of flavors!
Cafe Madras
Situated in the old lanes of Matunga, Cafe Madras has a history of over 80 years! People swear by the restaurant’s rasam vada, which is one of the oldest delicacies here. This is the best place in Mumbai you go to when craving for south Indian delicacies like dosas and idlis.
