The very first glimpse of Lokal with its minimalist interiors, sharply dressed staff and noisy diners somehow made me feel like I was in the right place. This basic yet stylish Bohemian beer hall exudes all the positive vibes in the world. The food made me happy, the lager had me stoked and the waiters made me realise that people all over the world are inherently good. While it basically is a beer hall, the food served here is a force to be reckoned with. With a new menu every single day of the week, Lokal belts out the most beautiful traditional Czech dishes and packs in flavours in ways other restaurants cannot possibly match. And the beer with its two distinct varieties (dark and light), as a matter of course is strong, delicious and rich, and warms your heart just the way the ambience does. The most conspicuous and rather novel characteristic of this place is the fact that the distilling equipment is nestled cosily under the bar behind an all-glass showcase. Everything here is simple yet quirky. Visit the graffiti and poster-laden washroom in order to understand my point. Interestingly, a part of the menu is reserved for credits given to the chefs and waiting staff—a perfect illustration of how this pub is very different from the others. I can now unabashedly assert that I am extremely biased when it comes to Lokal and I have all the reasons to be so.
