An iconic city's iconic foods
Now we all know that Delhi does not disappoint when it comes to culinary delights. The city afterall is a melting pot of various cuisines coming together from across the country. But if you had to pick four restaurants to dine in, which would they be? We have a clear answer in this regard, as we think these four iconic restaurants of Delhi far surpass any other food experiences that you might have in a long time to come.
Here we have the top four restaurants in Delhi for you.
Karim’s
This iconic restaurant really needs no introduction. It is home of the original Mughal food, as they used to be in the courts of the Mughal rulers. The restaurant was set up in 1913 by Haji Karmuddin, the son of Mohammad Aziz who was a cook in the royal court. Today the restaurant is synonymous to the best of Mughal cuisine. You can eat at any of its branches across the city, but to get the real feel of the place, you must come to the original restaurant in the old lanes of Old Delhi.
Moti Mahal
That incredibly popular Indian dish that the western world craves for, Butter Chicken, or Murg Makhani, started here. The restaurant was opened in the year 1947, and has quite simply transformed the taste of Indian cuisine. The cooks here began mixing leftover marinade juices with butter and tomato, and throwing in the tandoori chicken pieces in them. Thus creating the iconic dish that has taken over the world. Of course you must try the tandoori dishes as well, they are incredibly popular here.
Indian Accent
Often called one of the best Indian restaurants in India, and featuring in top 50 restaurants in Asia, Indian Accent is a milestone in culinary development. Headed by Chef Manish Malhotra, Indian Accent is located in The Lodhi Hotel, and has two other branches in the world, in London, and New York. The restaurant is quite simply phenomenal with its inventive cuisine that surpasses all expectations. If you are looking for a place to get your money’s worth, this is it.
Bukhara
ITC Maurya, A Luxury Collection Hotel, New Delhi’s Bukhara brings you food that you will never forget. This world famous restaurant has made quite an impression on some of the leading personalities of the world, including US Presidents Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Its kebabs are extremely popular, but oddly enough it is the humble dal that takes the crown. However, the Dal Bukhara, as it is called, is anything but humble, it is an extraordinary interpretation of the classic Dal Makahani.
