Manhattan
Right on top of the list is the Manhattan, and a drink that is originated at New York City's Manhattan Club. Made with whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters, the cocktail is stirred, and then strained. As you can see from the picture here, a cherry goes on top of it to complete it. The whiskey used is mostly Tennessee whiskey, Canadian whiskey, Bourbon, or blended whiskey. But are some variations as well.
Moscow Mule
A known as a vodka buck at times, this classic drink is eye-grabbing since it is served in a copper glass. It is made of vodka, spicy ginger beer, and lime juice. It is said that the Moscow Mule was born in Manhattan, however, the story differs when it comes to the question, what led to the invention of this drink in Manhattan?
Singapore Sling
Originating at the Raffles Hotel, Singapore, this classic drink is a gin based cocktail. Ngiam Tong Boon, a bartender working at the hotel's Long Bar is credited with this drink. The cocktail is a mixture of gin, cherry brandy, pineapple, orange, and lime juice. Sounds delicious right? There are many variations of this gin sling today.
Long Island Iced Tea
The innocent iced tea, gets a twist with this world-famous cocktail. This extremely popular drink is made from vodka, tequila, light rum, triple sec, gin, and cola. Often a good choice for a drink if you want to spend a long time on one drink. The drink is said to have been originated at the Oak Beach Inn, in Long Island. It is a drink with high alcohol concentration.
Cuba Libre
Here's a drink that many of us actually have, but don't know that it is in fact a legit cocktail.. It is the humble, rum and coke. This simple mixture is extremely popular the world over, but add lime to it, and you get a classic cocktail. Originating in the early 1900s in Cuba, Cubans began to love this drink when Coca-Cola was imported into Cuba from the United States after 1900.
