Right on top of the list is the Manhattan, and a drink that is originated at New York City's Manhattan Club. Made with whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters, the cocktail is stirred, and then strained. As you can see from the picture here, a cherry goes on top of it to complete it. The whiskey used is mostly Tennessee whiskey, Canadian whiskey, Bourbon, or blended whiskey. But are some variations as well.

Originating at the Raffles Hotel, Singapore, this classic drink is a gin based cocktail. Ngiam Tong Boon, a bartender working at the hotel's Long Bar is credited with this drink.
