What is interesting to make a note of is that the top 10 countries in the list are comprised of Nordic countries like Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway, all of which are known for their progressive policies. When delved deeper into the sub-categories of this survey, it can be found that Denmark, for instance, was named the best country for women, and for raising children, while Norway ranks at the top as the best country for citizenship.
While the evaluations for the best countries for this year were being done through the survey, the respondents were also asked to vote for the best world leaders. This part of the survey ranked Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Angela Merkel as the most respected leaders globally, while US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin got the worst approval ratings from the respondents.
