Floating alone in the midst of nature – paddling your weekend away, hire a kayak and a guide at Rio Sarapiui. Kayaking is neither the number one sport, not Costa Rica the number one destination for it. However surprisingly, plenty of tourists indulge in kayaking in Costa Rica's waters that range from calm to not-so-calm. The village of La Virgen, through where Rio Sarapiqui travels is the best place for starters. Enthusiasts also kayak in the mangroves of Costa Rica. The coasts of the two oceans is also a wonderful opportunity to paddle as you beach-hop or around the rocks near the coast.
