Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan

This is supposed to be one of the best aquariums in the world. Kaiyukan is spectacular both from the outside and the inside. A part of the Tempozan Harbor Village in Osaka, this exciting marine museum houses sea life from the Pacific Rim area, and offers copious amounts of knowledge and fun, all rolled into one attractive aquarium. Don’t be surprised if you find hordes of families and school kids observing the many whales, sharks, penguins, jellyfishes, and seals dotting its tanks and displays. With as many as eight floors and a humongous central tank along with several smaller ones, this aquarium is a thoroughly immersive experience for all nature lovers. The red, blue, and silver exterior looks straight out of a superhero film and the interiors are a celebration of the many shades of blue. It’s a lot like being inside the depths of the ocean, an octopus here and hundreds of butterfly fishes there. The introduction of an interactive exhibit known as ‘New Kaiyukan’ has greatly helped in attracting more visitors.
The Kaiyukan Aquarium is open from 10 am until 8 pm, and you will have to pay around 2300 Yen as the admission fee. Moreover, an extra 500 Yen needs to be shelled out for the English audio guide. It is located near the Osakako Station along Osaka’s Chuo Subway Line.
