From the seasonal truffle to staples like cheese, there are many people passionate enough about foods to celebrate them. Harvest festivals were historically the time to do this—celebrations of the bounty which would hopefully keep a community fed for the following year, and even though people are not so reliant on the soil around their own homes now, it's still a good opportunity to test, taste and be pretty thankful about the delicious variety of food and drink humans have sowed in the past in order for us to enjoy now. Remember, someone had to think it was a good idea to drink fermented grape juice in order for us to be able to drink wine!
