It is also close to the more famous Corbett National Park, which sees travellers from all over the world.

Almora is a largely offbeat getaway near Delhi and is set in the high Himalayas of Uttarakhand. A serene drive of around 8 hours from Delhi-NCR will take you to this less talked about hill station, also home to the very famous Kasar Devi temple and its connect with the likes of Swami Vivekananda, Bob Dylan, Uma Thurman and more.

If you have been to Manali, Naggar, Kasol and are looking for a place that is more offbeat, head to the largely quaint Jibhi. The place has everything from cosy homestays and hotels to mud cottages and more. It is also the ideal base for a number of treks and trails.

Another offbeat wonder in Rajasthan, Shekhawati is a great choice that is not too far from Delhi-NCR. You can fly to Jaipur Airport, with Shekhawati a mere 150 km away from the airport. It's hailed as world's largest concentration of frescoes.

This is one of the most offbeat names we have in our list. At 440 km from Delhi, it will take you high up in the mountain ranges of Uttarakhand. The village is as offbeat as it gets and is home to the much revered Triyuginarayan Temple. It is believed that this is the temple where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. A couple of homestays and hotels are there to give you a comfortable vacation, away from the rather noisy new year celebrations of the city.
