October is all about lovely weather in these offbeat destinations
October, in most places, is post monsoon, and this means - more fresh greenery, a lot of fresh and cool breeze all day, sun is less intense now, and exploring outdoors is a lot easier. These offbeat places provide an excellent mix of nature, culture, and adventure, all while offering pleasant weather for a memorable trip in October.
Here are some lesser-known places across the country that experience delightful weather during October:
Ziro, Arunachal Pradesh
Ziro, home to the Apatanis, is a natural beauty. October month means a nip in the air, fresh cool breeze all day, and a lot of greenery around, thanks to the monsoon season. October is pleasant enough to check out the town’s rice fields, bamboo groves, and unique tribal culture. The nearby Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit for nature lovers.
Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh
October in Spiti means, by now, the monsoon rains are gone, and Spiti Valley becomes more accessible. But it can be short-lived too because of the winter's snow. But rest assured, October is one of the best times to explore Spiti's outdoor wonders. There is a nip in the air, and the cold is still bearable. October is also quieter as compared to the summer rush, making it perfect for offbeat travelers.
Orchha, Madhya Pradesh
Orchha in October means cooler temperatures to explore the hidden gems of Orchha. The historical places, temples and cenotaphs by the Betwa River are easier to explore as days are a lot cooler now. Also, post monsoon, the river looks stunning, an absolute photographer's delight.
Tirthan Valley, Himachal Pradesh
October weather is perfect for outdoor activities like trekking, trout fishing, and camping by the river. If you love trekking, this is a great place as it is a part of the Great Himalayan National Park.
Kalimpong, West Bengal
Kalimpong is your more peaceful and less crowded alternative to Darjeeling. Kalimpong enjoys lovely cool weather in October, and offers a serene atmosphere with panoramic views of the Kanchenjunga range.
Mechuka, Arunachal Pradesh
Mechuka is not your usual tourist destination. It is tucked away deep inside West Siang district, and is one of the very few places in India still untouched by rampant "development." Mechuka in October means pleasant weather, perfect for enjoying the breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains, rivers, and lush forests.
Mawlynnong, Meghalaya
One of Asia’s cleanest villages, Mawlynnong in Meghalaya is a peaceful retreat you need to check out this season. This little village in Cherrapunji experiences pleasant weather post monsoon, and is surrounded by natural beauty, including waterfalls, living root bridges, and pristine surroundings.
Yercaud, Tamil Nadu
Forget Kodaikanal this season, pick Yercaud instead. It is quieter than Kodaikanal, and just as beautiful. Yercaud is all about peaceful escape with pleasant weather in October. This offbeat hill station is located in the Shevaroy Hills, all surrounded by coffee plantations, dense forests, and misty landscapes.
