Lajpat Nagar metro station to become a major interchanging hub, to have a public plaza

The Lajpat Nagar station of the Delhi Metro is about to become one of the major interchanging hubs of the national capital’s metro rail network. While this South Delhi station is already a major one on the Violet Line, it will become an interchanging station for the Pink Line by the month of June this year.
The upcoming Pink Line of the Delhi Metro will run from Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar. The new Lajpat Nagar metro station is expected to become a major hub for metro commuters as it will also connect with the 7.69km-long Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor of Phase IV.

When all of this is operational, Lajpat Nagar will become an important metro station in South Delhi and is thus expected to have an estimated footfall of 54,454 passengers on a daily basis.

Because of this, the metro station is undergoing aesthetic changes to its design, and along with it there are several public conveniences and amenities for passengers coming up. For instance, the station is supposed to be housing the first-of-its-kind artwork, a public plaza and digitally printed glass work among other things.

Commenting on this, a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) spokesperson said, "With the expansion of the station as an interchange facility, shoppers from all parts of the city will be able to travel directly to Lajpat Nagar".
