Latest reports suggest that the state government and Union Shipping Ministry recently cleared a proposal, which states that around 600 ac of land that the trust owns will now be opened up for development. Referring to this development, a state official stated that this is a part of the centre’s move to monetise land holdings that are owned by various public sector undertakings.
The proposed finance hub will also be a tourism hotspot, equipped with hotels and cruise terminal. The said project also has plans to create a marine tourism project in which a ropeway over the sea to the Elephanta Caves will be a part.
