Located in the southeast of central Zagreb, Lake Jarun is a popular getaway for residents in the summer. The artificial lake is formed by Sava River, creating a large pool of clear waters. The lake is accessible by a tram ride of 45 min. While the lake water is ideal for swimming and other water sports activities, the lakeside area is lined with cool cafes and hip bars. During summer, the INmusic Festival is held by the shores of the lake. Zagreb’s popular nightclubs, Aquarius and Macao, are situated here. If you are looking for some action, then get on a canoe or a pedal boat to explore the water. Or if you feel lazy, just enjoy the white sandy beaches and soak up the sun. The recreational areas around the Lake Jarun are ideal for biking, rollerblading and cycling. If you are travelling with kids, then head to the lake shores, they are known to provide multitude of activities and entertainment for young as well as the grownups!
