Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple

Sri Kshethra Horanadu is located on the banks of River Badra, about 100 km away from Chikmagalur, closer to border with Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. Annapoorneshwari means ‘Goddess who would feed all’. This temple was set up by Agasthya Maharishi. Here Goddess Annapoorneshwari is seen standing on a peetha with four hands, each holding a Shankha, Chakra, Sri Chakra and Gayathri. Made out of gold, it is believed that one who seeks Annapoorneshwari’s blessing will never face shortage of food in life. Needless to say temple visitors get complementary food. Accommodation is also offered on request, subject to availability.
Mangalore (135 km) is the nearest airport. Horanadu is well connected by road with neighbouring cities and state capital Bengaluru. A visit to Horanadu is often clubbed with Sringeri. Located amidst the Sahyadri Hills, Horanadu Temple premise is very scenic and mesmerising. Driving to and from Horanadu involves negotiating some good ghat roads. Badhra Wildlife Sanctuary and Chikmagalur town are some of the nearby attractions.
