In a surprise move, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has covered the plaque that read “Here Khilji had seen Padmini” from outside the Padmini Mahal in Chittorgarh Fort. The move has been, reportedly, taken to control the uproar against the release of Padmavati, an upcoming Hindi movie.

The whole cover-up episode took place after taking permission from the concerned authorities Jodhpur’s regional office of the ASI. “This is the only place in the entire fort which says that Khilji had seen Padmini," an ASI officer said on an anonymous note.
The Karni Sena had also asked the ASI to put down the mirrors from Padmini Palace, change the official ASI content about the whole episode, and order the guides from narrating the mirror incident to the visitors. When the ASI did not take a step, the said group retaliated by breaking glasses of the palace on March 6. As a result, the ASI was forced to shut down the gates of Padmini Palace dome, and had to stop the guides from talking about the mirror narrative.

The dome building of Padmini Palace is believed to be the site where Khilji had a glimpse of Padmini; it has been sealed from the day its glasses were broken down by the group members reportedly.
