Exploring world's most isolated islands
Did you know there are islands out there that are incredibly far away from the main lands? These isolated islands offer a unique kind of peace, but are quite difficult to reach, yet make for a great vacation. Here, let’s take a look at some of these remote places and what makes them special.
These islands may be far away from everything else, but they're full of natural beauty and adventure, making them perfect destinations for those seeking solitude.
Tristan da Cunha
This island is in the South Atlantic Ocean and is so isolated that it takes about a week to get there by boat from South Africa. There are only around 250 people who live there, making it one of the loneliest places on Earth. But despite being so isolated, the island is incredibly beautiful, with tall mountains and interesting wildlife.
Easter Island
Found way out in the Pacific Ocean, Easter Island is one of the most remote inhabited islands in the world. It's famous for its big stone statues called moai. These statues are really old and nobody knows for sure how they got there. Easter Island is thousands of miles away from the nearest land, which is Chile.
Cocos (Keeling) Islands
Located in the Indian Ocean, these islands are about halfway between Australia and Sri Lanka. They're made up of 27 little islands, and they're known for their beaches and clear blue water. There aren't many people who live there, so it's a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Svalbard
This group of islands is way up in the Arctic Ocean, near the North Pole. It's really cold there, but it's also incredibly beautiful. Svalbard is home to polar bears and lots of other Arctic animals. People who visit Svalbard can see things like the Northern Lights, which light up the sky in colorful patterns.
Pitcairn Island
Situated in the southern Pacific Ocean, Pitcairn Island is one of the most isolated inhabited islands in the world. There are only a few dozen people who live there, and the only way to get there is by boat. The island is surrounded by big cliffs and untouched nature, making it a peaceful and quiet place to visit.
