The people during the Mon period were known for their advanced culture, including their skills in architecture, art, and religion. The Mon kingdom, which was centred in the Bago region, was one of the most powerful and influential kingdoms in Southeast Asia. As a result, a large part of the region saw many of these temple structures, mostly as part of a larger network of religious sites throughout the Mon kingdom.
