For the first time, an ancient Egyptian tomb has been opened for public; it is located near the Giza pyramids. The 4,000 year old Tomb of Mehu has been away from the public eye for a very long time, and belongs to a high-ranking Egyptian official.
The paintings in the chambers of this ancient tomb include colourful drawings that give an idea of how ancient Egyptians led their lives. The scenes here in the tomb include hunting, fishing, harvesting, cooking, and dancing. There is a particularly strange painting that shows marriage between two crocodiles. It is in the Saqqara necropolis of Egypt, and is being considered to be the most beautiful tomb of this region, with the Saqqara necropolis home to numerous tombs and small pyramids.
The opening of this ancient pyramid should help attract more tourists, especially those interested in ancient world history. After the Arab Spring, Egypt’s tourism numbers had reduced, but is slowly showing signs of improvement.
