Delhi Police, civic bodies using drones in heavily populated areas

Several densely populated areas of Delhi and containment zones including Dilshad Garden, Karol Bagh, Nizamuddin, which are COVID-19 hotspots in India, have not only been sealed to control the spread of the virus, but strict surveillance is maintained here by the police and civic agencies to keep lockdown violators in check.
News has it that the civic agencies and police have deployed drones to nab violators of the lockdown orders to enforce social distancing on streets, and also spray disinfectants.

After learning from China about how to make the best use of drones for serving different purposes in order to deal with the pandemic, different nations of the world including India have resorted to drones. Indore in Madhya Pradesh was the first destination in India to use drones for sanitisation, followed by Bengaluru and Hyderabad. And now, Delhi has extensively started using drone devices to disinfect difficult-to-reach areas. These drones can be filled with 3000 litres of disinfectant for aerial spray in tapered colonies such as Seemapuri and Shahdara.

The drones, reportedly, have proved to be a success in areas with dense populations where keeping a tab on the movement of the people is not easy.

Drones are being used to keep a watch on ration shops, banks and other functional public places in each sub-division in Delhi.

Sanjay Bhatia, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Delhi, told the press that with the help of drones, the police teams either take a screenshot of a violator and send it to the local personnel or straightaway ask their COVID Bike Patrol squad to reach the place to warn the violator of possible penal action.
