During monsoon, it’s witnessed that the glowing forest in India gets completely drenched in rain. If you check it out during the day time, the forest would simply look like any other. However, if you visit it during the night time, you get to see the real magic, when the drenched forest lights up. You will ask how.
Well, this unusual phenomenon is caused by Mycena, which is actually a bacteria, and is unlike others. It possesses a unique property that prompts it to glow when there is a huge amount of moisture present in the surroundings. These bacteria then stick on branches, rotting leaves, and twigs like fungus, resulting in the special effect, causing the forest to glow.
According to scientists, this natural phenomenon is also termed as bioluminescence, which is not only found in seas, but also in forests.
As of now, scientists have not yet figured out how to predict the next glowing night. But, if you are lucky, you might some day end up in this Avatar-like forest and have an experience of a lifetime.
