Now a heritage hotel, Chail Palace happened to be the royal mansion of Maharaja of Patiala, Maharaja Bhupender Singh. He is the person who is often credited with the title of being the founder of Chail after he was banished from Shimla by the British government. The palace was built in 1871 and it represents the charm of Chail in its full glory. The palace has a Victorian feel to it and is adorned with vintage artwork and classic architecture. The hotel now is a warm reminder of the glorious days that palace must have seen under the patronage of the royal family.
