Just beyond the threshold of the cosmopolitan city, the Bangalore Palace will take you by complete surprise before proceeding to charm you silly. The palace looks out of place amidst its bustling surroundings – a replica of the Windsor Castle in Berkshire, it was constructed back in 1862 and took close to a century to complete. Today, it is Bangalore's pride, hosting private parties in the ballroom and public events at its sprawling 454-acre-grounds. Take a couple of hours to admire the Tudor-style architecture replete with gothic elements, fortified towers, arches and turreted parapets.
