Kasol
Kasol stays as charming as ever, its position as one of Himachal's quirkiest destination unquestioned. It is loved for a lot of reasons; our favourites are Mediterranean cuisine, quaint bakeries, rows of tailors that can fit you well with quirkiest, hippie clothing and, of course, hours spent by the roaring River Parvati.
Mandawa
Mandawa in Rajasthan is around 230 km from Delhi, and is a great pick if quirky is your style of travelling. It is known for its forts and havelis, with a number of covered in the most colourful murals you might have seen. Mandawa is not as popular as Rajasthan's famous trip of Jaipur, Udaipur and Jodhpur, which is what makes it one of our most treasured picks.
Alwar
Alwar in Rajasthan is another quirky, mostly offbeat getaway around Delhi that you can explore during the Dussehra weekend. It's just a leisurely drive away, and is home to the beautiful Alwar City Palace and Moosi Maharani Chhatri.
Pangot
A largely offbeat place in Uttarakhand, Pangot is a haven for birdwatchers and travellers who are scouring for a place that is close to nature. Book a homestay here, and you will be set to have your Dussehra vacation in peaceful Himalayan settings.
Sariska
Sariska is very close to Alwar, and you can cover both in one go. It is a tiger reserve and is spread over 881 sq km. Jungle safaris are a great crowd-puller here, and you have all the chances to spot the big cats too!
