SIGHTSEEING IN DELHI Updated : Mar 3, 2016, 03.04 PM IST

Sacred Hearth
Spread over 14 acres, this red brick building is also Delhi’s largest Catholic church and one of the oldest churches in the city. Situated between the schools of Convent of Jesus and Mary and Sant Columbus, it lies close to Connaught Place and across Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Completed in 1934, it was designed by Henry Medd, who was part of Edwin Lutyens’ team that designed New Delhi and later the chief architect to the British government. The main altar is made of white marble, with a beautiful main fresco of the Christ and his disciples. The church holds daily services and Sunday mass.
