Located in a suburb outside the main city, Papaya Vintage Shop is one of Bangkok’s best kept secrets. Part museum and part store, this gigantic warehouse features an incredibly eclectic variety of vintage items — a dream for pop culture aficionados and shopaholics alike. Browsing through the shop’s numerous large rooms is an exercise in both patience and observation. Visitors will find everything from vintage clocks to Vespas; comic book figurines to art deco furniture; and odd-ball pieces like a life-size James Dean statue. Some items are so valuable that they’re not even for sale.
It’s also a great place to take photos. In fact, professional photographers often rent out the gorgeous rooms for a price,in order to be allowed to do photo shoots there. The warehouse’s suburban location means that it is easy to find the spot in a taxi. You can easily spend an afternoon getting lost in this maze-like wonderland, and while you are at it, do not forget to bring back some unique souvenirs or home accessories from this place.
