The Ho Chi Minh Masoleum is one of the most iconic and important sights in Hanoi where you can view the final resting place of the famous Ho Chi Minh, known as the father of modern Vietnam.
Ho Chi Minh’s Masoleum is located in the center of Ba Dinh Square, which is of historical significance in itself. It was in this square that Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence in 1945, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
Construction of the Ho Chi Minh Masoleum began in 1973 and the building represents Vietnamese architecture with its sloping roof and gray, black and red stone interior. Ho Chi Minh’s body is protected by a guard inside of a glass case and can be viewed inside of the museum.
If you wish to visit you must wear appropriate attire and not show your legs. You’ll need to walk in two straight lines and photography is prohibited.
