This French colonial Hanoi Opera House is one of the most beautiful buildings in Hanoi! It was opened in the December of 1911 and is considered to be one of the most important architectural landmarks in Hanoi for it was modeled after the Palais Garnier. The architecture is neo-classical and eclecticism style. The French used the z to begin with, and after they left, the building was used for Vietnamese plays and musicals.

The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra overlaps with the orchestra of the opera house. The opera house itself has housed many famous operas and musicals by Vietnamese composers and is a wonderful place to spend an evening or just to admire from the street if you’re more interested in the architecture than the opera.
