When you crave street food or home-style Indian food in Manchester, head to the curry mile. Here kebab shops and stores for a quick take-away stand side-by-side on a mile-long stretch of road. Mughli, however, as most locals will tell you, stands out on the curry mile. Set around a charcoal pit and a tandoori clay oven, you can find all manner of char-grilled meat and home-styled Indian cuisine. The menu expresses the diversity of the land and you can find just about everything from Goan fish curry, chunks of haddock slow cooked in a creamy coconut sauce; to nihari, lamb shanks steeped in marrow juices and roasted spices. There’s always a buzz about the place and you can share platters.
