One of the major attractions of Europe is its open-air markets. When it comes to quaint open-air markets, Gundulićeva Poljana is as European as it gets. The market is located in the middle of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. It is surrounded by historical walls, which are steeped in decades of history and culture. Every morning, vendors put up colourful stalls that sell everything from artisan breads and gourmet pastries to fresh fruits and vegetables. On Saturdays, the market is a lot bigger and busier than usual. Dozens of tourists throng the stalls of Gundulićeva Poljana. This means that prices are on the higher end of the spectrum. But the quality of the produce makes up for it. The emphasis is on locally-sourced products and there are some incredible breads, cheeses and oils to be found here. Gundulićeva Poljana is the perfect market to stock up your picnic basket before visiting one of Dubrovnik’s beaches.
