A love of South East Asia saw Asha leave her homeland of Australia for the hot nights and cool breezes of tropical Asia. She has been based in Cambodia for the past 4 years and travelled extensively around the world, eating, drinking and walking until it's time to eat again.
If you like drinking games, 90s hits and dancing with backpackers, then Howie’s Bar is just the place for you. A low-ceilinged party room in the midst of party chaos on St 51, Howie’s is the last stop of a night for many Phnom Penh revellers (or perhaps the second last stop before Katy Peri Pizza on the street outside).
The things that make Howie’s special are the board games. You can play games like four square or dice against the bar staff, and get free drinks if you win. If you lose—and believe me, you will lose—you have to buy them a drink as well. Practice makes one perfect, and the women working here are very hard to beat.
Tip:
Don’t arrive too early—walking in to an empty Howie’s before the party has kicked off is a sad occurrence.
Why go?
To play (and lose) board games against the bar staff and laugh a lot in the process.
