A part of the Dartry range of mountains that are ranged around Sligo, Ben Bulben is a beautiful and dramatic tabletop mountain, which forms a spectacular backdrop and features prominently in Yeats’ poetry. The mountain seems to be more mysterious and haunting since it is part of so many Irish legends involving fearsome warriors, clans and wild boars. It is home to some unique Arctic-alpine plants, hares and foxes and is also a popular hiking and trekking destination.
