Mumbai’s construction boom now leaves behind a bigger daily pile of rubble than the city’s household garbage.

The civic body estimates that Mumbai generates about 8,000 metric tonnes of construction and demolition waste every day, against roughly 7,000 metric tonnes of municipal waste — a stark measure of how intensely the city is being pulled down, dug up and rebuilt.
