Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses can now post directly to Instagram Stories

Meta has rolled out new features for its Ray-Ban smart glasses, including one which let users to share photos shot with the Ray-Ban’s directly to their Instagram Stories without needing a phone.

How to share photos to Instagram from Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses

To share a photo to Instagram, users can simply say, "Hey Meta, share my last photo to Instagram" after taking a picture or "Hey Meta, post a photo to Instagram" to capture and share a new image on the spot. This hands-free functionality is reminiscent of the Snap Spectacles, which launched in 2016 and enabled users to share photos and videos directly to their Snapchat Stories.

Update brings Amazon Music and Calm integrations

In addition to the Instagram integration, users can now stream music from Amazon Music by saying, "Hey Meta, play Amazon Music." The smart glasses also allow users to control audio playback using touch or voice commands, eliminating the need to take out their phone. The meditation app Calm has also been integrated, allowing users to access mindfulness exercises and self-care content by saying, "Hey Meta, play the Daily Calm."

Meta brought multimodal capabilities and new styles for the Ray-Ban smart glasses last month

These updates come just a month after Meta introduced multimodal AI capabilities to the smart glasses, enabling users to ask questions about their surroundings using the built-in camera and Meta's AI technology.

Last month, Meta introduced new styles and colours for the Ray-Ban smart glasses. The new styles include Skyler in Shiny Chalky Gray with Gradient Cinnamon Pink Lenses, Skyler in Shiny Black with Transitions Cerulean Blue Lenses, and Headliner Low Bridge Fit in Shiny Black with Polar G15 Lenses.
