How to use Harry Potter spells with Siri on your iPhone
If you're a Harry Potter enthusiast and an iPhone user, you're about to experience something truly enchanting! Apple has woven the world of Harry Potter into the fabric of your iPhone, turning it into a modern-day Elder Wand. Through Siri, specific Harry Potter spells have been integrated, giving you the ability to perform magical commands and delight those around you. This integration allows you to cast spells just like a wizard, opening up a realm of fun and creativity right from your smartphone. Here’s an in-depth guide to help you unlock and use these magical commands with Siri on your iPhone.
Before you start casting spells, ensure Siri is enabled on your iPhone. To do this, go to Settings > Siri & Search and toggle on "Listen for 'Hey Siri'". Once Siri is set up, you're ready to start your spellcasting journey.
"Lumos" is the charm that illuminates the tip of a wizard's wand. On your iPhone, saying "Hey Siri, Lumos" will turn on your flashlight, simulating the wand's illumination.
"Nox" is the counter-charm to "Lumos," used to extinguish the wand's light. By saying "Hey Siri, Nox," you can turn off your iPhone's flashlight.
"Accio" is the summoning charm that draws objects toward the caster. With Siri, you can summon apps on your iPhone. Simply say "Hey Siri, Accio [App Name]" to open the desired app. Ensure your iPhone is unlocked to access the app.
While Apple has pre-programmed a few spells, you can create custom spells using the Shortcuts app. Here’s how you can expand your magical repertoire:
"Lumos Maxima" intensifies the wand-lighting charm. Create a shortcut to set your flashlight to maximum brightness.
"Silencio" is the silencing charm. Use it to activate Do Not Disturb on your iPhone.
"Muffliato" muffles sounds to ensure privacy. You can use it to lower your iPhone’s volume and activate Background Sounds.
"Sonorus" amplifies sounds. Use it to max out your iPhone’s volume.
"Quietus" reduces amplified sounds. Adjust it to revert your iPhone's volume to a comfortable level.
"Homenum Revelio" reveals nearby humans. Set it to open the "People" tab in the Find My app.
"Point Me" directs the wand north. Use it to open the Compass app on your iPhone.
"Sternius" induces sneezing. Use it to play a sneezing sound on your iPhone.
"Vermillious" sends a distress signal. Create a shortcut to send an SOS text with your location to emergency contacts. Use the "In Case of Emergency" shortcut available in the Shortcuts Gallery and customise its settings.
"Reducio" shrinks objects. Use it to reduce the text size on your iPhone.
"Engorgio" enlarges objects. Use it to return the text size to your preferred setting.
