Korean task-based game linked to three minor sisters jumping to death: Gaming obsession and more, what we know so far
In a tragic incident, three minor sisters died by suicide, jumping from the 9th floor of a building in Bharat City Society, Ghaziabad. The three sisters have been identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12). According to police, all three had not attended school since the Covid-19 pandemic. The eldest sister was reportedly a Class 4 student. A source said that the sisters were reportedly addicted to a Korean task-based gaming app. Some handwritten papers were also found at the spot, which are currently under investigation. Authorities have discovered a suicide note in which the girls expressed their inability to live without their online Korean games. Obsession to an online Korean game is said to be the reason behind the girls taking their lives. Here's what os known about the game and the three girls gaming obsession so far:
* Reports suggest that the gaming app that the girls were addicted to is 'Korean Love Game'. The three sisters are said to be so obssessed with the game that they addressed each other with Korean names.
* As per a report in India Today, the game has 50 tasks.
* According to girls' father, the girls got addicted to gaming after the Covid-19 pandemic.
* The three sisters reportedly climbed onto a chair and jumped one by one. The two-ladder used to jump is reported to be part of the Task.
* Girls father Chetan Kumar told IANS that the note from his daughters contained a poignant message: "Sorry, Papa...we cannot leave Korea. Korea is our life, and you can't make us leave it. That's why we are committing suicide."
* Police said they will analyse the girls' mobile phones and seek details about the game they were obsessed with. “The girls left behind a lot of notes in a diary and stated that they were sorry, and also made a crying caricature. They were highly obsessed with the game and thought that they were not Indians, but Koreans. They also portrayed themselves as Korean princesses under the influence of the game," said assistant police commissioner Atul Kumar Singh.
* DCP Nimish Patil told IANS, "As we spoke to the family now, they had somewhat restricted the girls from using the phone for the past few days. The girls were troubled by this, and because of that, they took this decision..."
As per a report by news agency PTI, Assistant commissioner of police (Shalimar Garden) Atul Kumar Singh said the sisters were addicted to a Korean task-based interactive “love game”.
“Their parents had restricted their mobile phone usage for the past few days, which left them distressed. This may have triggered the decision (to take the extreme step),” he said.
