Apple WWDC 2026; key highlights of Tim Cook's 'last event' as CEO: Apple Intelligence and New Siri

It's wrap on WWDC 2026 keynote. And with this, Apple's biggest software event of 2026 -- World Wide Developers Conference 2026, starts. Apple kicked off WWDC 2026 with a keynote presentation from CEO Tim Cook at Apple Park. WWDC 2026 is Tim Cook's last as CEO, as John Ternus takes over the reins in September. Apple announced MacOS Golden Gate, refinements in Liquid Glass in iOS 27 and launched Siri AI -- powered by Google Gemini's underlying technology. Apple Intelligence will now allow to create and edit photos, Safari is getting new AI features and Apple says it is not launching Siri AI in EU and China as of now. The World Wide Developers Conference, which attracts thousands of developers from some 60 countries to Apple’s Silicon Valley headquarters, runs from June 8-12. Here are key highlights from the WWDC 2026 event.

Analysts expect the iPhone maker to give updates on new AI features and capabilities, including developments with its Siri voice assistant. Dubbed 'New Siri', reports suggest that it is likely to use on-device personal data to deliver useful AI-powered experiences while maintaining its privacy-first approach. Siri is also expected to have several AI models. What makes Siri important is that it is baked into almost every Apple device – iPhone, iPad, HomePod and Mac.

Apple WWDC 2026 Live: Tim Cook's last WWDC as CEO
This will be Tim Cook's last WWDC as Apple CEO as John Ternus takes the reins in September. Apple made a surprise announcement in April this year. Tim Cook's retirement in April ends his 15-year run as Apple CEO. This also means that the iPhone 17 series was Tim Cook's last iPhone launch as CEO. John Ternus will launch flagship iPhones for 2027, which is likely to be Apple iPhone 18 series.
