Idea 4G expands to 101 towns in Punjab
NEW DELHI: Idea today announced the availability of its 4G LTE service in 84 more towns of the Punjab circle, taking the total tally to 101. With this launch, Idea 4G now covers all major towns across all 22 districts.
In 22 out the total 101 towns, Idea has also become the sole operator to provide 4G LTE services. The 4G service is available in the major towns of Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, Muktsar, Barnala, Rajpura and Gurdaspur, in addition to the other major towns of Chandigarh, Firozepur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Moga and Pathankot that were launched earlier.
The network relies on a total 1,350 4G sites in the region. Network expansion will continue according to the growth in user base.
Last week, Idea had announced the availability of its 4G LTE services in 84 more towns of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana telcom circle. The service is available in the major towns of Anakapalli, Jadcherla, Ghatkesar and Ananthapur, in addition to the other major towns of Hyderabad, Mahaboobnagar, Nizamabad, Rajahmundry, Tirupathi, Vijayawada and Vizag, that were launched earlier.
In total, Idea has rolled out 4G mobile services in 575 towns across 10 circles comprising 15 states in 100 days. The company, however, did not share the number of 4G customers it acquired but said it has a overall customer base of 125 million in these reported circles.
