Google Photos for iOS updated, gets Live Photos support

NEW DELHI: Google Photos has been upgraded with a new feature for iOS platform. The update brings along the support for Live Photos for iPhone and iPad users. The users will now be able to view and backup Live Photos which comprises of sound and motion before and after a still photo is captured.


Apart from the Live Photos support, the Google Photos also gets the Split View feature for multitasking which allows the users to use Google Photos side-by-side along with other apps with the same feature. The update also enables the users to back up and view live photos and also reduce the cache usage when the device is running out of space.

Google Photos crossed 100 million user mark in October last year and got support for shared albums feature in December.


Earlier this month, Google Photos got more editing tools for improving the pictures. The update enabled users to navigate between photos while staying in editing mode. And while doing this they will not lose any changes and will be able to revert to the original. The edits made will be automatically saved, and in case they want to undo a change -- all that is required is just a click on "Revert to Original".
