NEW DELHI: In the face-off between
Roman Reigns and
Cody Rhodes during the WrestleMania Kickoff last Thursday, concerns and criticism have emerged, not only regarding Rhodes but also surrounding the presentation of the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns.
During a recent episode of the Busted Open podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray expressed his straightforward critique, stating, “I have never seen Roman look so secondary in my life.” Ray, along with hosts Dave LaGreca and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry, discussed how The Rock's commanding presence overshadowed Reigns during the press conference.
Bully Ray highlighted The Rock's leading role as he, Reigns, and Paul Heyman exited the press conference, emphasizing that Rock made everyone on stage seem small, especially Reigns, who is known as the Head of the Table. Ray suggested that, as the champion, Reigns should have taken the lead in the confrontation with Rhodes.
Mark Henry added insights, explaining how wrestlers typically position themselves close to the hard camera to appear larger. However, during the face-off, The Rock's strategic positioning in front of the stationary camera gave him a dominant and consistent perspective, making him visually imposing.
While acknowledging The Rock's star power, Mark Henry noted that WWE may need to address the perceived power dynamic, with the Undisputed Universal Champion reminding others of their roles.
“If I’m Roman Reigns, I don’t want to look short, and I don’t want to look small. I’m Roman Reigns. I’m the Tribal Chief. You’re here to visit,” stated Henry.
With Roman Reigns and The Rock scheduled to appear on SmackDown this Friday night, fans are eager to see how WWE addresses these concerns and if Reigns will reclaim the spotlight, reasserting his dominance as the Tribal Chief in the build-up to WrestleMania.
