Odyssey Jones made his first appearance for WWE since March on RAW last night. The New Day was going up against the Authors of Pain. Now, even though both Kofi and Xavier Woods were putting on a stellar display, it seemed like the win would elude them tonight. This is mainly due to Karrion Kross's menacing presence outside the ring.

However, Odyssey Jones showed up out of nowhere and immediately pummeled Kross, Akam and Rezar to help the New Day get the win. Thanks to his attire, build and moves people have begun to compare Odyssey to WWE legend, Mark Henry. Some have even begun to wonder whether the two are related to each other. Let us be the first to tell you that Mark Henry is not related to Odyssey Jones at all.

His real name is Omari Jahi Palmer. He was born in New York to Steven and Janice Palmer in 1994. Contrary to popular belief, Jones does not come from a wrestling family. Let’s take a closer look at the personal life of Odyssey Jones.

A closer look at the personal life of Odyssey Jones

Odyssey completed his high school education at Longwood Senior High School in New York. During his time in school, Jones was a star athlete, competing in sports like football, basketball, lacrosse, and wrestling. In 2012, Odyssey went off to Syracuse University. He did not let his love for sports end with college. Jones was on the university’s football team from the moment he joined until he graduated.

Unfortunately, Jones couldn’t finish his last season with his college football team due to an injury. Not much is known about what Odyssey did after he graduated from college in 2016. He was spotted by Joe Saladino who then got him in touch with Mark Henry and helped him land a WWE tryout. Three years passed, and in 2019, Odyssey announced that he had signed a contract with WWE.

Because of his attire and the way he’s built, Jones will be compared with Mark Henry no matter what he does. But, his personality is completely different. At a single glance, Odyssey comes off as a more charismatic Mark Henry. He also moves pretty well for someone his size and has a commanding presence every time he’s on the screen.

Just a few moves from Odyssey were enough to take out three competitors on Monday Night Raw last night. That sight alone should tell you just how high the ceiling is for Jones. One thing that remains a concern is Odyssey’s luck with injuries. First, he got injured while playing football for his university.

Now, even after making the switch to wrestling, Jones has been unable to stay fit. If he can be more consistent with his appearances, the sky's the limit for Odyssey Jones. It’ll be interesting to see what he has in store for us over the coming weeks.
